Lucy Chugh is an enthusiastic percussionist, educator, and collaborator from Buffalo, NY. Throughout her work, Lucy seeks to increase accessibility to classical music for audiences, performers, and students – particularly gender minorities. Furthermore, she enjoys exploring unique combinations of genre, instrumentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Recently, Lucy has performed with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Eastman Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Philharmonia, and OSSIA New Music. In 2024, she participated in the Eastman Percussion Ensemble Midwest Clinic tour and Eastman Wind Orchestra Eastern Division Conference of the College Band Directors National Association tour.
Additionally, Lucy has studied at various summer institutions including the Texas Music Festival, Nashville Marimba Sessions, and Bowdoin International Music Festival. She was also selected as a Youth Artist for the Network for Diversity in Concert Percussion in 2021.
As an administrator, Lucy has interned with arts organizations such as Third Coast Percussion, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Dragonfly Percussion, and Girls Rock! Pride Rock Rochester. Lucy also taught beginner group and private drum set lessons with Girls Rock! Pride Rock Rochester from September 2025 to July 2026.
Lucy is currently based in Ann Arbor, MI, where she is attending the University of Michigan. While pursuing her Master’s Degrees in Percussion Performance and Chamber Music, Lucy is under the tutelage of Doug Perkins, Ian Antonio, Michael Gould, Nancy Zeltsman, and Jeremy Epp.
As a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, Lucy earned her Bachelor of Music, Arts Leadership Certificate of Achievement, and Pi Kappa Lambda membership. During her time in Rochester, she studied with Michael Burritt, Charles Ross, Mark Hodges, Rich Thompson, and Kyle Peters. She also previously studied with Keith Aleo at the Interlochen Arts Academy, where she received the Fine Arts Award, and Matthew Bassett, Principal Timpanist of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.
